Research Focus

My work involves the investigation of the utility and limitations of the extraction of biological information from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data. Utilizing concepts of statistical signal processing, I am working on studying the effects of sequencing populations using NGS, as opposed to the traditional Sanger Sequencing.
​I have previously worked on time-frequency algorithms and their application to image processing, particularly pansharpening and image fusion.  An intended direction of my research is to explore the application of these algorithms to biological data. The underlying idea of utilizing time-frequency algorithms to extract and analyze patterns embedded within data is the same; edge and contrast information in the former, evolutionary trends in the latter.
